X-Adventure Dunsborough weather and safety update

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

We are aware of the forecast for less than ideal weather on Saturday in the Dunsborough region but want to keep you are up to date with any possible ramifications to the event.

The Race Director is on the ground in Dunsborough so can monitor local conditions and we are watching the weather forecast closely to see how it may impact the event. At this point in time all races will definitely go ahead as planned so please continue to plan accordingly. We will make a provisional call on the race course for Saturdays’ races on Friday evening with a final call made no later than 9:00am Saturday morning. We will follow a similar procedure for Sunday’s races.

Please be aware this is an off-road triathlon and as such you may experience slightly more uneven conditions compared to those of a road based triathlon.

Please keep an eye on the website and Facebook page for further advice.

X-Adventure Dunsborough

Shark update
In light of recent incidents in the Gracetown area, we want to alleviate concerns swimmers may have for X-Adventure and advise that we will have a professional water safety team on the water and the land who will check the immediate and surrounding area prior to and during any swim leg. We have also arranged for a helicopter to sweep over the course each morning before swimmers enter the water.

Please be advised that Dunsborough is on a different body of water compared to Gracetown and Surfer’s Point and is far more protected.

As event organisers we treat competitor safety as the highest priority, and have personnel, and contingency plans in place in the event of extreme weather. But for now… Safe travels and we’ll see you in Dunsborough for Australia’s biggest off-road triathlon and new Aquathlon-X!
