WHO ARE OUR VOLUNTEERS?

They are people from all backgrounds who enjoy being part of great sporting events. Many of our volunteers are friends or family members of competitors and want to get involved and share the race-day experience, or they might belong to a local sporting club or community group.

HOW LONG TIME WISE DO I NEED TO HELP FOR?

Any time you can provide over the race weekend is greatly appreciated, whether it is just 30mins or the whole day! Particularly busy times include:

Friday 8 September

  • 3:00pm - 8:00pm during registration

Saturday 9 September

  • 6:00am - 8:00am at the 23km pt in Torquay
  • 8:00am - 12:00pm at the 50km pt in Anglesea
  • 12:00pm - 5:00pm at the 77km pt in Moggs Creek
  • 3:00pm - 7:00pm at the finish line in Anglesea

WHAT TYPES OF ROLES ARE THERE:

Volunteer roles vary so we match you up to the type of role that you want to do. Roles vary between things like:

  • setting up infrastructure
  • helping with registration
  • manning water points
  • marshalling on the course
  • being based at the start / finish line helping ensure that runners are OK.

Some roles are seated roles ancan be done if you are injured / less mobile whilst others involve being out and about. We will allocate your role according to your experience, interest area and availability.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN RETURN FOR MY TIME?

We will give all volunteers either a t-shirt or head sock or water bottle or other valuable event 'goodie'. We'll also provide you with lunch and snacks on the day and make sure that you are fully informed and know what to do with an allocated team leader to supervise you on the day and any equipment needed for your role.

If you are from a local group or organisaiton (such as a Lions Club, or Footy Club) we will make a financial donation back to your club on a per person / per day basis. We pay ~$90 pp/pd so it is a great, risk free way for some groups to make some good money as well (and its more fun than selling sausages at Bunnings!)
