17km Trail Run course
1st Nov UPDATE: the course distance has been corrected to 17km (from 15km)
All runners gather on the giant granite domes overlooking the Southern Ocean, below the iconic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse in Augusta. Surrounded by the power of the Southern and Indian Oceans and cheered on by hundreds of spectators, this start line is something to behold and will truly get you pumped!
Runners start by heading up the rugged West Coast in a rock running frenzy, crossing on to the Cape to Cape track and continuing north on this weaving single track whilst enjoying endless views to the west and south across the ocean.
Turning right onto a 4WD track, runners will face a challenging hill as you climb through the coastal heathland and into the tall timber forests on the eastern side of the ridge including some magnificent Karri Trees, followed by a steep and semi technical descent.
Weaving through the trails on a well marked course, you’ll arrive back at Augusta for a short street section that leads you triumphantly to the finish line at the Turner Caravan Park (the event venue).
This is an achievable course for any runner that provide an incredibly scenic journey through one of Western Australia’s wildest landscapes. It’ll leave you breathless!
This is the Run course map for the 2018 race. Some changes may be made pending weather conditions on the day.
