Standalone Races (Saturday) – Ocean Swimming Race, Ocean Paddling Race, Trail Running Race and Mountain Bike Race

1. What happens at race registration?
At race registration you will be required collect your race pack.
Depending on which of Saturday’s races are participating in, this means collecting your relevant racing item - running bib, MTB plate, Kayak sticker or Swim Cap, with timing band or timing chip. If you are eligible, you will also collect your Event T-shirt.

If you have purchased any merchandise, please attend the ‘Merchandise’ section of the marquee to collect your items.

2. Will I receive an event t-shirt?
To receive a complimentary t-shirt with your entry, you must;
Enter any 2 races across event weekend (includes competing as part of a team on Sunday).
OR
Enter as an Individual in Sunday’s Adventure Race

...before 8:00am AEST Monday 3 September, 2018.

All Act-Belong-Commit Junior Survivor Competitors will receive a complimentary event t-shirt.

3. Does the person competing have to attend registration to collect their kit?
No, we are happy for friends/family members to collect on your behalf

4. I am currently entered in 1 event on Saturday but would like to add 3 more races and be an ‘Adventure Warrior’ can I do this?
Yes, please log back in to the entry system and add the races on Saturday then make payment! You’re in!

5. What is 'Adventure Warrior'?
Adventure warrior is a combined-race category for those competing in all 4 standalone races on Saturday. Competing in all 4 races means you will be in contention for Adventure warrior awards in your age category. You are also eligible for a 15% discount!


6. Is there any compulsory equipment for my race?
Yes, please visit our Equipment and Safety page HERE to ensure you have everything you need!
Note: First aid kits are not required for the Mountain Bike Race and the Trail Running Race. Orange smoke flare is required for the Ocean Paddling Race

7. Are there any discounts for entering multiple races?
Enter any 3 races on Saturday, or 2 races on Saturday plus the Adventure Race on Sunday as an individual to receive 10% off.

Enter 4 races on Saturday, or 3 races on Saturday plus the Adventure Race on Sunday as an individual to receive 15% off.

Enter all 4 races on Saturday plus the Adventure Race on Sunday as an individual to receive 20% off.

Nb: to receive discounts you must enter races in one transaction

8. I need to advise of a withdrawal, what do I do?
Email info@rapidascent.com.au to arrange your refund or notify us that you will not be racing.

9. Is it compulsory to attend the race briefing?
No, as long as you have read the event program and have a thorough understanding of the

10. What type of PFD (Personal Flotation Device) do I need for the Ocean Paddling Race?
This must be type 2 or 3. This must be worn at all time. Your race bib must be worn over the top of this.

11. Do I have to wear a helmet in the Ocean Paddling Race?
Yes – you are required to wear a helmet at all times during the paddle; a bike helmet is acceptable.

12. What type of bike helmet is required for the Mountain Bike Race?
Certified Bike Helmet to AUS/NZ/US standard. It must be fastened before leaving a transition area.

13. Is there a water station on the Trail Running Race?
Yes, at approximately the 7.5km mark.

14. Do I have to be at presentations to collect my prize?
Yes – we encourage all winning positions to be at presentations. If you require your prize posted out, a fee of $10 will apply. Please email info@rapidascent.com.au to make arrangements.

15. Where can I view race results?
Race results can be viewed straight after the event thanks to Blue Chip Timing via the Results page. We will have the full results displayed on our website soon after the event as well.

 

 

Augusta Adventure Race – Sunday


1. What happens at race registration?

At race registration you will be required collect your race pack.
You will collect a Rapid Ascent race bib, MTB plate, Kayak sticker and swim cap. If you are eligible, you will also collect your Event T-shirt.

Adventure Race Teams Only - If you have not completed your team entry you will be asked to complete paperwork! To avoid this, please ensure each of your team members have entered online prior to online entry closure.

If you have purchased any merchandise, please attend the ‘Merchandise’ section of the marquee to collect your items.

2. Will I receive an event t-shirt?
To receive a complimentary t-shirt with your entry, you must:
Enter any 2 races across event weekend (includes competing as part of a team on Sunday).
OR
Enter as an Individual in Sunday’s Adventure Race

...before 8:00am AEST Monday 3 September, 2018.

3. Does the person competing have to attend registration to collect their kit?

4. Can I make a change to my team entry?
Yes, please email info@rapidascent.com.au by 8:00am (AEDT) Tuesday 30 October. Otherwise these changes will need to be made at race registration and a $10 fee will be incurred.

5. Is there any compulsory equipment for my race?

Note: A first aid kit must be carried on the mountain bike and running legs, an orange smoke flare is not required for the paddle

6. Is it ok if I change from an Individual to a team?
Yes – please notify us of this change ASAP. Email info@rapidascent.com.au to arrange this. You will be asked to pay the increase in fee difference.

7. Are there any discounts for entering multiple races?
Enter any 3 races on Saturday, or 2 races on Saturday plus the Adventure Race on Sunday as an individual to receive 10% off.

Enter 4 races on Saturday, or 3 races on Saturday plus the Adventure Race on Sunday as an individual to receive 15% off.

9. Can you assist me with finding a team member for our team?
Yes! Register your details on the team mate finder HERE. We can assist with teams looking for a member or people looking to join a team.

11. Adventure Race Teams Only – What do we do with the bib and timing chip?
The bib and timing chip will be given to the swimmer at registration (leg 1) – the bib and timing chip is passed on to all competitors at each transition. It’s like a relay baton. The bib must be the outer most garment at all times. Timing chip must be worn on the left ankle (needs to be close to the ground to ensure an accurate reading). Do not place timing bands on bike handle bars.

12. Where do I put the timing chip?
Your timing chip must be worn around your left ankle at all times. It needs to be on the ankle so it’s close to the timing mats. If you wear this on your wrist, we cannot guarantee you an accurate result.

13. Can I wear my hydro-pack or PFD over my race bib?
No, your race bib must be the outer most garment at all times. We need to be able to see your race number at all times. It will stretch.

14. What type of PFD (Personal Flotation Device) do I need for the paddle leg?
This must be type 2 or 3. This must be worn at all time. Your race bib must be worn over the top of this.

15. Do I have to wear a helmet in the paddle leg?
Yes – you are required to wear a helmet at all times during the paddle; a bike helmet is acceptable.

16. What type of bike helmet is required for the bike leg?
Certified Bike Helmet to AUS/NZ/US standard. It must be fastened before leaving a transition area.

17. Is there a water station on the run leg?
No – you must carry your own hydration for ALL legs.

18. When should I pick up my race gear from the transition areas?
As soon as possible – It would be great if you are a team to pick up as you go. If you are an individual, perhaps have your support crew meeting you at each spot collecting your items.

19. What happens to items left at the transition area?
Any items left at the transition areas will be taken back to the finish line and placed in Lost Property. Please label all items clearly with your full name and contact phone number so we can try to get them back to you.

20. Do I have to be at presentations to collect my prize?
Yes – we encourage all winning positions to be at presentations. If you require your prize posted out, a fee of $10 will apply. Please email info@rapidascent.com.au to make arrangements.

21. Where can I view race results?
Race results can be viewed straight after the event thanks to Blue Chip Timing via the Results page. We will have the full results displayed on our website soon after the event as well.

22. Are there cut off times for the race?
Yes, there are cut off times at each transition point that be strictly enforced. See the Cut-Off Times page for details.


Act-Belong Commit Junior Survivor – Sunday


1/ What happens at race registration?
You will be required to collect your numbered race plate, safety pins and your Event T-Shirt.

If you have purchased any merchandise, please attend the ‘Merchandise’ section of the marquee to collect your items.

2/ Will the Junior Survivor entrants receive an event t-shirt?
Yes, all Junior Survivor participants receive an event t-shirt.

3. Does the person competing have to attend registration to collect their kit?
No, we are happy for friends/family members to collect on behalf of the competitor.

4. Do Junior Survivor entrants receive a finisher medal?

Yes, all Junior Survivor entrants receive a finisher medal

5. I need to advise of a withdrawal, what do I do?

6. Can I accompany my child around the course?
Yes, you can accompany your child around the course.

7. How long is the course and how long will it take to complete?
The course is approximately 4km long. This will take between 20 minutes and 60 minutes to finish. We encourage the kids to pace themselves and not attempt to sprint the whole way!
